On the 4th day of Christmas, my bartender gave to me..

A Strawberry Daiquiri recipe! This Daiquiri is a bright, fruity classic that brings a tropical touch to Christmas celebrations. With fresh strawberries, zesty lime and a hint of rum, it's a perfect summer holiday drink with a festive red colour to match the season!

The Strawberry Daiquiri became popular in the 1970s and 80s, thanks to the rising trend of frozen cocktails and the use of fresh fruits in blended drinks. Today, the Strawberry Daiquiri is a essential summer cocktail with its bright red colour, refreshing taste and slightly sweet finish.

The Daquiri has been a beloved classic, particularly in tropical climates where rum and citrus fruits are plentiful. Named after a small village in Cuba, the original Daiquiri was invested in the early 1900s by an American mining engineer, Jennings Cox. Seeking a refreshing drink in the Cuban heat, Cox mixed lime juice, sugar and rum, and then the Daiquiri was born. The cocktail gained international fame when it made its way to the United States and was later embraced by influential bartenders who experimented with fruit variations - hence the birth of the Strawberry Daiquiri.

Strawberry Daiquiri Recipe

Ingredients:

- 60ml Bacardi White Rum
- 30ml Fresh Lime Juice
- 15ml Simple Syrup
- 1 cup Fresh Strawberries
- Ice Cubes

Instructions:

1. In a blender, combine the rum, lime juice, simple syrup, fresh strawberries and a handful of ice together.
2. Blend until smooth and the texture is icy but drinkable. Ad more ice for a thicker consistency if desired.
3. Pour into a chilled glass and garnish with a fresh strawberry or lime wheel on the rim.

PRO TIP: For a touch of sweetness, try adding a spoonful of sugar if your strawberries aren't quite ripe. Fresh strawberries bring out the best flavour, but if they're not available, frozen strawberries work just as well!
