Read recipe below

On the 5th day of Christmas, my Bartender gave to me..

A festive White Russian cocktail that is filled with notes of coffee and vanilla, the perfect dessert drink to enjoy after a meal or two.

Enjoy the ultimate dessert drink that offers a luxurious blend of creamy, slightly sweet and mildly biter flavours. A drink that has become a staple for cocktail enthusiasts who enjoy richer, coffee-infused beverages and its simplicity has allowed for endless variations and adaptations.

It's a snowy Christmas!

The White Russian has an interesting history as a cocktail with Russian roots in name only! The drink was originally derived from the Black Russian, a cocktail invented by bartender Gustave Tops in 1949 at the Hotel Metropole in Brussels. The Black Russian, made with vodka and coffee liqueur, was named for its dark colour and Russia's association with vodka. The 'white' variation, created in the 1960s, added cream to the mix, creating a smoother and richer drink. This simple twist brought newfound popularity to the drink, especially during the 1990s after it featured prominently in the cult-classic film The Big Lebowski.

Snowy White Russian Recipe

Ingredients:

- 45ml Vodka
- 30ml Kahlua (or any other coffee liqueur)
-30ml heavy cream or milk
- Ice cubes

Instructions:

1. Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice cubes.
2. Pour in your vodka and Kahlua, stirring gently to combine.
3. Slowly add the cream, allowing it to float on top for a layered effect.
4. Stir gently f you prefer a fully mixed drink, or leave it layered for a dramatic presentation.

PRO TIP: For a lighter option, substitute the heavy cream with milk or do a half and half method. To add a holiday twist, try garnishing with a dusting of nutmeg or cinnamon or a sprig of rosemary for an aromatic finish.
