Among your classic big brands of Bombay Sapphire and Gordon’s we are seeing more boutique distilleries on the rise. Four Pillars is an Australian Gin Distillery located in the Yarra Valley. Who knew the Yarra Valley had room for Gin when we know that they are so well known for their beautiful wines as well? Four Pillars is a testament that there is something about the beautiful region that makes it charming.
About Four Pillars
2013 was the year Four Pillars started, 3 mates and an extraordinary copper still. That was all. Years go by and we are seeing Four Pillars named the world’s leading gin producer by the international wine and spirits competition in London, among winning several awards along the way.
2015 was the year the team at Four Pillars settled down in Healesville in Yarra Valley which use to be a timber yard and today is a gin paradise. 2020 comes round and the team open up a Surry Hills laboratory in Sydney which is a go to cocktail bar that is a hot spot in Sydney.
2022, a year that was big for Four Pillars being titled the first Australian certified carbon neutral gin distillery as well as their sustainability efforts recognised on a global scale.
The Awards
Four Pillars have won the title of ‘International Gin Producer of the Year’ three times! 2019, 2020 and 2023. This is the first time we have seen a brand receive this award three times. In 2019, Four Pillars was named ‘Liquor Brand of the Year’ from the Australian Liquor Industry Awards.
2022 was a great year for the team at the Four Pillars Distillery. They saw multiple awards come their way including a Global Winner award for the Green Spirit Initiative from the International Wine and Spirit Competition. As well as being recognised for Brand Innovator of the year from the Gin Magazine Icons of Gin Awards.
In 2023, we saw Four Pillars become the Master Distiller of the year and Sustainable distillery of the year from the Gin Magazine Icons of Gin Awards. It is safe to say, they are being recognised for their craft skills and innovations yearly and we’re excited to see what the future holds for the brand.
The Gins
Four Pillars live by the motto of 'We are modern Australian markers of Gin. Simple' and further to that, they use the access they have to their local native botanicals such as lemon myrtle and Tassie pepper to enhance their Gins flavour profiles, their signature touch is the use of whole fresh citrus in each and every gin.
