Bumbu Story

A Rum like no other

As the holiday season draws near, there's no better way to kick off the festivities than with a true spirit of adventure - Bumbu Rum.

People recognise Bumbu Rum for its mix of traditional Caribbean craftsmanship and bold, modern flavors. The perfect drink for Christmas celebrations awaits you.

Whether you're hosting a fun party or having a quiet night by the fire, this rum adds warmth and spice. It also brings a touch of island flair to any occasion.

We believe behind every great bottle of rum is a story steeped in heritage and this Rum is no exception. Inspired by 16th and 17th century sailors, this rum honors the original Caribbean recipe. These sailors sought a flavorful twist to their standard rum by mixing it with native fruits and spices, creating what we know today as 'Bumbu'.

With true legacy in mind, blending some of the finest sugarcane from across the Caribbean and South America. This delicate balance of rich molasses and local spices is distilled to perfection, bringing forth a flavour profile that's as complex as it is captivating.

Crafted in beautiful Barbados, the heart of rum culture, Bumbu is aged for up to 15 years in American oak barrels, giving it a rich amber hue and a silky-smooth finish. Every sip tells a story, one that is rooted in history and modern excitement.

The Rum

Flavour Profile:

What sets Bumbu apart from the rest of the rums we see? it's tantalisingly smooth and aromatic profile. Expect a harmony of vanilla, caramel and banana upfront which is closely followed by bursts of cinnamon, toasted oak and nutmeg. You'll notice lingering hints of spice and sweetness are ideal for sipping straight or using as the base for a festive cocktail. Take a look at the key notes of this Rum below:

Nose: Rich and intense notes of caramel and vanilla.

Palate: Waves of banana, cinnamon and nutmeg balanced by oak.

Finish: Smooth with a hint of spice that lingers.

Serve: On its own, over ice or in a cocktail creation.

The Blend:

Bumbu believes that a heritage isn’t just historical but its in fact also geological. Unlike most Caribbean islands that are formed by volcanos, Barbados was created by coral reefs. A place where groundwater is purified as it flows through natural limestone. This makes Barbadian water some of the best in the world.

Bumbu is made with very pure water and carefully selected sugarcane from the Caribbean and South America. These ingredients give it a light and smooth texture. This quality is important for the drink's great taste. This quality is key to the drink's great taste.

The Cane:

Their master distillers select sugarcane from some of the worlds best countries for producing the drop. The minerals and other elements present in sugarcane contribute unique characteristics when distilled into rum.

Bumbu Distillery

Bumbu rum is made at a historic Barbadian distillery that was founded in 1893 and continuously operated for more than 120 years. Their rum is distilled using two continuous stills.

The yeast used during fermentation is a distillery secret that dates back to as far as 1840, when some of the original iron pot stills were cast.

The Bottle

The ultra-heavyweight glass bottle is a piece of art. It has a tarnished metal ‘X’ on the front and a map of the Caribbean on the back. The team's favourite part? The old-fashioned oversized cork - you’ll hear a celebratory POP each time you crack open the bottle.
